Do you write TOEFL or IELTS before applying to schools? (Discussion)

Hello everyone,

I am interested in knowing what order you do your study abroad preparation in. Do you write standardized exams like SAT or GRE first? Prepare and write the english exams (TOEFL, IELTS)? first? Or do you contact schools through their website or LearnHub first before worrying about these exams? Maybe all of them at the same time?

Let’s talk about this! Dan

    Hello Dan!

Acording to me applying to schools is to be done after clearing the exams as the schools ask for your score first. Some of the schools accept 6.5 band and some 7bands. All accept different scores. And if we talk about preparing for the exams like SAT or GRE and english exams like IELTS and TOEFL,then for these you can prepare side by side. And preparing for IELTS and TOEFL side by side with your other exams can be of great help in the english portion in SAT,GRE,GMAT,etc.

    Wish you Good luck!

    Dear Dan,

Back here in India, most of the study USA aspirants prepare for both GRE and TOEFL simultaneously. They appear for GRE first and then within a week or so they appear for TOEFL. The same is the case with SAT and TOEFL. Also, there are good number of students who finish GRE first, then prepare for TOEFL for a month or so and then finish it.

Coming to students who intend to pursue study in the colleges that do not require SAT/GRE, most of them take IELTS as this is the exam accepted by most of the universities (especially univs in Australia).
